The Prophet ﷺ said: إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ إِذَا أَخْطَأَ خَطِيئَةً نُكِتَتْ فِي قَلْبِهِ نُكْتَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ، فَإِذَا هُوَ نَزَعَ وَاسْتَغْفَرَ وَتَابَ سُقِلَ قَلْبُهُ “When a servant commits a sin, a black spot is etched upon his heart. If he stops, seeks forgiveness and repents, his heart is polished clean. But if he returns, it increases until it covers his heart.” — Jami’ at-Tirmidhi 3334 (hasan) That covering is the rān Allah mentions: “But no! In fact, their hearts have been stained by all the evil they used to commit!” (Qur’an 83:14) Don’t wait for tomorrow.
