@yacht_buoy: Loads of you thought this was AI, but it isn't. This is me with the team from Safehaven Marine, sea trialling their T2000 Voyager in some pretty gnarly conditions. Safehaven Marine builds commercial pilot boats and military vessels on Ireland's south coast, and the T2000 Voyager is what happens when a yard like that turns its hand to a private motor yacht. She is a 21.4 metre, 40 tonne power catamaran with CE Category A, built with a GRP hull with a 30mm PVC core and a carbon fibre reinforced superstructure. Twin MAN V12-1550 diesels of 1,550hp each drive France Helices surface drives, and she will hit 52 knots flat out. A hydrofoil engages at around 22 to 23 knots and lifts the hull to reduce drag, so she can cruise at 30 knots for up to 1,000 nautical miles. She carries 10,000 litres of diesel and has a watermaker, three cabins, a separate crew space for two, inside and flybridge helms, and every internal door and hatch is watertight, just like a workboat. I served in the Royal Navy and volunteered with the RNLI, so not only do I love rough weather, I absolutely love the boats that are designed and built to survive it.
