An Arkansas school director accused of leading a disturbing student “fight club” has pleaded guilty in the case and received her sentence. Mary Tracy Morrison, 51, owner and director of The Delta Institute for the Developing Brain and the Engage program in Jonesboro, entered a guilty plea Monday to one count of permitting child abuse and four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. According to reports, Morrison was sentenced to 30 days in jail, followed by 120 days of house arrest with electronic monitoring and nine years of probation. She is also permanently barred from working with children professionally. The judge additionally ordered Morrison to surrender her occupational therapy license and any related certifications, while also requiring her to undergo a mental health evaluation and comply with any recommended treatment. Authorities arrested Morrison in April 2025 after the mother of a teenage boy contacted the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office, alleging her son had been mentally and physically abused at the school. Investigators later reviewed surveillance footage that allegedly showed Morrison directing a student to sit in the center of a circle formed by approximately 18 other children and staff members. According to the probable cause affidavit, Morrison instructed students to strike the child using an unidentified object while verbally berating him. The footage also allegedly captured one student kicking and choking the victim as the incident unfolded. Investigators said Morrison later appeared pleased with the behavior, allegedly giving one student a high five afterward. Authorities said the incident lasted roughly 30 minutes. During that time, another teacher allegedly encouraged a student to hit a classmate in a private area. After the confrontation, Morrison reportedly forced the victim to apologize to the group and instructed students never to speak about what had happened. Three additional employees — Michael Bean, Kristin Bell and Kathrine Lipscomb — were also arrested in connection with the allegations. Investigators claim the adults witnessed the abuse but failed to step in. Attorneys representing Morrison and the other employees reportedly argued the affidavit failed to prove the victim suffered physical injuries severe enough to support the original abuse allegations. It remains unclear whether the other defendants have entered pleas in the case.#fyp #viral
