Investigators stated the case could lead to additional charges against Smith. Federal investigators spent months examining Smith's activities. During his arrest on Tuesday at the post office on Town and Country Way, Smith was found to be in possession of 12 first-class letters, 11 of which had been addressed to the Spring Branch ISD Tax Assessor Collector, 5 of the letters had allegedly been opened and contained checks for the district. USPS confirmed Smith remains an employee but is not currently working at the post office, however, prosecutors asked the court to prohibit Smith from visiting any post office.
