@mackanfit: Stiff hips, tight hamstrings, a back that complains when you bend over? You don't need a gym or an hour of yoga. A 2024 review of 77 studies found that regular stretching clearly improved range of motion, and how long or how often people stretched barely changed the result. Another review found gains from as little as 5 minutes a week. The routine: sit on the floor (2 min), downward dog (1–2 min), deep squat (2 min), crab reach (1 min) and hang from a bar (3 × 30 s). About 10 minutes in total. The floor test matters more than you think. In a study of 4,282 adults followed for 12 years, people who struggled to sit down and get up from the floor had a much higher risk of dying during the study. Being able to do it without your hands was linked to living longer. Start easy, never force a stretch into pain, and build up slowly. Send this to someone who sits all day. Sources: Konrad A et al.
