@trymarhaba: Download “marhaba!” to learn Arabic 🧩 Link in Bio Is يَغْشَى النَّاسَ a ḥāl or a naʿt? Ad-Dukhān 44:10-11, فَارْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِي السَّمَاءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُبِينٍ يَغْشَى النَّاسَ: “So watch for the day the sky brings a visible smoke, covering the people.” The judge asks where each sentence sits in iʿrāb. تَأْتِي السَّمَاءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُبِينٍ comes after يَوْمَ, so the whole sentence is muḍāf ilayhi, in the place of jarr. يَغْشَى النَّاسَ: the contestant says ḥāl (in the place of naṣb), then naʿt (in the place of jarr, like دُخَانٍ). His rule: sentences after an indefinite are ṣifāt, after a definite aḥwāl. The judge’s answer: both are allowed. دُخَانٍ is indefinite, but its naʿt مُبِينٍ has specified it, and a sentence after a specified indefinite can be a naʿt or a ḥāl. 🎥 Sibawayh Qur'an iʿrāb competition #quranicarabic #arabicgrammar #learnarabic
