idk why people hate nod krai so much, I thought it was pretty good the story is well done even if it was "last minute" (even though thats never been stated anywhere by hoyo) and I like the way the region is designed, its fun to explore even without the treasure compass

They did mention it during one of Nod-Krai's version livestreams, I'm pretty sure. Nod-Krai was primarily used to introduce bits of the lore that would have otherwise made it way to confusing

columbina arc could be concurrent with snezneya arc, spaceship could have been end of Fontaine or natlan (nations with tech), hex witches could have been a filler patch or more of it back in the mondstadt expansion/the durin patch, dottore arc could have also been in sneznaya or compacted, rerir arc was only a patch or 2 and could have been saved or completely skipped because of how inconsequential it was. almost the entire nod krai plot could have been skipped tbh because nothing really changed and every piece that was moved was put right back in its original place (columbina left the fatui, she's back with the fatui, dottore ascended to godhood twice and was put back into plot irrelevancy, sandrone died and came back, nothing meaningful changed)

as someone who skipped all of nodkrai and went straight into sneznhaya: columbina as a character might aswell not exist/ she could just be missing, it wouldnt change anything i thought varka and the witches were introduced in mondstadt in the new expansion, they could have just done a mondstadt aq dottores arc didnt *have* to conclude, he could have been a key player in sneznhaya replacing mitya is rerir a sinner or something? he could have been briefly mentioned like literally every other sinner, such as surtalogi and the wise in the recent quest travelers space ship could easily be a dainslief quest imo i dont really feel like i missed out on too much not having played it, theres only some holes that the story fills you in on anyways such as the pyro gnosis being gone and sandrone being our friend now or what not

it's such a good region I think it was mainly made tho to expand the Moon sisters story and to introduce some of the fatui earlier so it doesn't feel clunky when we get to Shneznaya

i thin there are more evidences, that without making nodkrai they were planning to make that story central for natlan, but they didnt managed to stitch it so they made separate story arc for whole dottore, columbina, varka and witches. If you look on abyss while the war in Natlan, they are literally like Wild Hunt. Also there was a leak middle of Fontain, that Natlan has 1 island, that still worships moon goddess. Thats why natlan quest feels emprier and strange.

nod krai was more than likely gonna be the area where we spend the first 2-3 acts leading into snezhnaya from natlan but then hoyo realized that nod krai had gotten way too big and important for it to be a sub area of snezhnaya so they seperated it into its own region and decided to use that extra time as a way to tie in some of the lore that was most likely gonna be missed in the og plan
