I think this is something we should all learn from. First, Islam does not prohibit women from wearing perfume altogether. A woman can wear perfume at home, for her husband and in appropriate settings. However, when going out in public, she is expected to avoid wearing noticeable fragrance that non-mahram men can smell. The Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him clearly warned against this in an authentic hadith (Sunan an-Nasa'i 5126). We can ask questions and seek to understand the wisdom behind Islamic teachings, but we should be careful not to dismiss them simply because they do not agree with our personal preferences. The fact that men are allowed to wear perfume does not mean the rulings for men and women must be identical. Also, being a Muslim is more than just identifying as one. We must make an effort to learn our religion, understand its teachings and practise them. Let us not turn religious discussions into mockery or arguments. We are all learning, and we all need Allah's guidance. May Allah increase us in beneficial knowledge, strengthen our Iman and guide us to what pleases Him. Ameen. 🤲🏽
