this was years ago, when pogs were popular and every kid had to have them..... company in my area got busted for fake pogs and had to empty THIER warehouse by giving them away. I had hundreds of thousands of fake pogs, don't even know what that is, but I gave them all away to the kids, two boys kept coming back by switching costumes so I called them on it , pulled them aside and filled both of their pillow cases to the top.more than 20 lbs of pogs and dared them to come back.they were just little kids and could barely drag THIER cases down the driveway, but they sure were gonna take them!

When me and my brother were kids a woman told us she ran out of candy. I got a can of peas and he got creamed corn I’m 70 yrs old and still remember how much we both laughed.

The lady down my road used to work in food marketing and each year she would give out the samples that she got for free. One year it was taco seasoning. 😳🌮

Not out of pocket, but this reminded me of a very old lady that lived alone at the end of our street. We knew she didn’t have candy, and her house was a little dark and scary from the outside, but my aunt would always stop and make us go up the porch and yell truck or treat. She would come to the door smiling with her little change purse and drop in a few nickels and pennies, and excitedly ask us what we were dressed as. Year after year. Of course now I realize that she didn’t get a lot of company-my aunt would swing by and visit her I believe. I have a lot of compassion for many elderly people now, and help when I can.

Had an old very eccentric man that lived locally to us,he was known as Mad Willie,his antics were legendary around the village. One Halloween he placed small bags outside his door for the kids,have to add he didn't have pumpkins or turnips (think us Scots only used turnips 😏) on display,but cabbages with hats on. In those little bag of "treats" were nuts,bolts and washers 🤣

We live in a small rural community where most people know each other well. My now grown daughter has come home with KD, Klik, package of noodles, can of soup, non-alcoholic beer and a pack of cigarettes. 😂 And yes, the cigarettes were from someone we know well and it was an inside joke. Lol.
