as a childless adult in my 30's open to children is open to the concept. kids can already exist and not committed either way to having your own. want kids is that you definitely want to have kids in your relationship preferably your own. doesn't want kids is you dont want kids. I think i have seen doesn't want their own in the future but if you already have kids it's not a deal breaker.

I can’t believe anyone thinks that open to children means anything, but someone already has children… There are specifically TWO different sections - one that says wants children and one that says open to children that’s literally the difference lol

It definitely means you are open to potentially creating/adopting children with a new partner. These apps already let you filter out people with kids, so they don't need another thing saying you are okay with the other person having their own children.
