Your video essay is good, but personally I disagree with the opening take. well-written (good) anime’s **usually** don’t include generic goony fan-service tropes just for the sake of appealing to raunchy teens. If an anime does have generic substance-less fan-service it’s just a sign of bad writing, I don’t think many “good” anime have been “ruined” by fan-service. Do you think monogatari is ruined by it’s sexuality? Some of the most popular manga of all time barely include any fan service at all regardless of context. So no, I don’t think fan-service is “ruining” anime when most anime that are being “plagued” by this are already the dirt of the medium. And even if it were so we need to keep this same energy with western/hollywood mediums because if anything, some of the most popular hollywood releases over the last 10 years are full of useless sex-scenes or nudity, just because the tropes are different doesn’t make it any different.
