It is not yet in force. 🛡️ TWO NEW DEFENSE AREAS — The agreement names Narsarsuaq and Mestersvig as planned American sites. ✈️ WIDER ARCTIC ACCESS — It also permits expansion at Pituffik Space Base and broader access for U.S. aircraft, once effective. 📅 PARLIAMENT IS NEXT — Denmark’s first debate is scheduled for November 12. Greenland’s lawmakers have their own review to complete. 🇬🇱 LOCAL INTERESTS REMAIN — The deal preserves Danish sovereignty and Greenlandic self-determination. It favors Greenlandic suppliers for related contracts where feasible. The Arctic location connects North America and Europe, which explains the strategic interest.
