@japdmedia26: MANASSAS PARK, VIRGINIA 🇺🇸 — Prosecutors have presented unusual water-consumption records and forensic evidence in the murder trial of Naresh Bhatt, who is accused of killing and dismembering his missing wife, Mamta Kafle Bhatt. A public works official testified that the couple's home used approximately 160 gallons of water within two hours on July 31, 2024, far above its normal usage. Prosecutors argue the unusual spike could support their claim that Bhatt cleaned the home after allegedly killing his wife. The records showed 48 gallons used between 11 a.m. and noon, followed by another 111 gallons in the next hour. Jurors also heard testimony about a reciprocating saw Bhatt allegedly gave to a landscaper after Mamta disappeared. An investigator said she found reddish-brown stains and hair-like strands inside the tool. Subsequent forensic reporting said evidence from the saw matched Mamta's DNA profile. Prosecutors have also presented security footage allegedly showing Bhatt disposing of trash bags, alongside evidence of suspected bloodstains inside the couple's home. Mamta was last seen during a video call on July 29, 2024. Her body has never been found. Bhatt has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder, concealing a dead body and physical defilement of a dead body. The prosecution's evidence remains subject to the jury's evaluation. #NareshBhatt #MamtaBhatt #Virginia #MissingPerson #japd
