Just to add to the video, Flora Shaw did not “name” Nigeria. The name Nigeria comes from the Yoruba royal word/title called OONIJA/NIJA/NIJI. The river was given the name and it later became the name for the country when Flora Shaw chose the name and wrote it with English alphabet(Nija became Niger). Colonial naratives are not the entire truth.

Interesting facts! Thanks for sharing. Benin the country is pronounced Benè. Its French. But there is another Benin in Nigeria and that one is pronounced as spelt.
