Adding money to it increases its growth. Obviously

I set up my grandson on the Trump account and he’s got money in it and I’m going to add to it just like it’s suggested.

“Here’s free $1000 that’ll grow for you” is not something I’d expect to see someone trashing.

My grandson didn’t get the 1000 but in opened him the account and for right now I’m putting 25 a week into it he just turned 5 and I hope to increase the weekly amount. This is not for now this is because I’m 49 and didn’t start saving for retirement until 7 years ago because I was not smart enough to save! I don’t want my kids and grandkids to make the same mistake

It’s a scam because what it’s gonna do is shift bad stock into these portfolios. I wouldn’t put my money in these. I think that it’s an investment strategy bound to fail.

Are you sure it’s as low as 25%? I would think it’d be higher.

I've heard that other rich people can, without consent of the child/parent, 'donate' to these accounts by selling off stock they don't want, putting that stock into the child account and forcing the child account to not be able to sell that stock share for 5 years?? Is this true? Is this kind of like money laundering if it's true? I'm not financially literate and I'm very confused by all of it.

I am 40 years old, have a college degree and have never been in debt other than my mortgage. it's possible if you know how to make priorities and sacrifice sometimes. I'm hoping to teach my kids how to live the same life, because it is better than stressing about paying your bills

Our grandchildren have these. Their father set up the accounts and every month $50 goes in. That’s a great thing isn’t it? When they’re 18 years old, that money will be a nice little nest Egg to start their lives. Families can put money in, but you can’t take it out. It’s not set up that way, which is good because I know there’s a lot of people who like to steal the Easter baskets away from the babies.

It definitely will increase the wealth gap and it’s so that they can get rid of social security because they’re giving this. However that is capitalism and this is a capitalist country. You will have something but those with more will have more, but what else is new. I’d still get the account if I could

Thank goodness my parents helped me with financial literacy. I started my own Roth and whole life insurance policy at 18. Also just had a daughter and we used the trump account and guess what set up money to be deposited in the account monthly.

So if I understand this: every eligible American child automatically gets a $1000 investment account, free, and people are upset? All they have to do is claim it, never have to add an additional dime and the child gets a start on a retirement account. A quick look shows that with no additional funds added could be $80k at age 60.
