I tried to record a video but I’m absolutely shattered after today 💤… so apologies for the essay 😬✏️ ● What a day! We’d arranged a home visit with my palliative care nurse and consultant, hoping they’d arrive with enough time for Ryan to be involved before he had to go to a friend’s funeral at midday. Unfortunately, they arrived over an hour late 🙈. Not to worry though, as my mum and dad were here to take over the ‘care duties’ for both me and young Thomas. ● My consultant and nurse discussed my current cancer changes, the high potassium levels from yesterday’s blood test and whether I needed any additional help at home - which I do! They then organised for the district nurses to visit this afternoon, along with an on-call team to take bloods 🩸 ● Not long after they left, I fell asleep for five minutes… only to be woken up by a panic attack (again!) 😵‍💫🫣 ● The district nurses arrived and agreed I could benefit from a stool in the shower, along with something to go behind my back to prop me up slightly in bed - these are hopefully arriving tomorrow. I’m an incy bit excited for the stool as I’m definitely a shower type of person. You can keep your bath of dirty water, thank you very much 😂 ● Just as they were leaving, the ladies arrived to take my bloods. Unfortunately, they were unsuccessful and didn’t want to cause me any more pain - yesterday’s blood test was brutal and has left a massive bruise!! By this point I was exhausted and the thought of driving over to Spire Hospital again filled me with anxiety. Not to worry though, as my calming influence, Ryan, was almost home and took me straight there 🧘🏻‍♀️☮️ ● Thank goodness Lucy, one of the oncology nurses, was working this evening. She’s the master when it comes to blood tests and inserting cannulas. My potassium levels have come down according to their handheld machine but they’re double-checking with the lab tomorrow morning. If the reading is correct, I won’t need intervention and chemotherapy can go ahead next week!! ♡🙌🏻🤞🏻💙 #positivievibes #mesothelioma #asbestosremoval #fyp #lookforwardandalwaysup
