Vids like this skip over a HUGE reason a lot of us stay (and our mothers/grandmothers did too) bc we come from families where education wasn't a priority but family was. There's no way to leave when you have no money, no car, no phone in your name, etc. If the situation isn't physically abusive and leaving means homelessness OFC people stay!! If you live in a rural area with no public transportation and no resources, what is the other option? The idea that it's just a lack of self worth is kinda privileged ngl. Or maybe you have a disabled child in a supportive school district and the shelter is in a different one. There's soooo many reasons that never get acknowledged.Yes I'm frustrated when I'm told to leave but ppl who say that seem to assume I lack the ability to make a good decision based on complicated factors and until education is free for everyone and universal basic income exists some women will be stuck in crappy relationships bc leaving has worse consequences- which is actually why so many men on the right don't want free education and universal basic income. they know it would empower ppl like me and my friends to not be in relationships with men.
