Defense Secretary #PeteHegseth announced that the #Trump administration will deploy an additional 500 National Guard members to Washington, D.C., after two guardsmen were shot on Nov. 26 just a few blocks from the White House. “This only strengthens our determination to make Washington, D.C., safe and beautiful,” Hegseth told reporters. Trump has repeatedly highlighted the Guard’s presence in the capital as a major success in reducing crime and has pointed to the initiative as a model for upcoming deployments in Portland, Chicago, and other cities. However, the former president has misstated the extent of the decline, falsely asserting this week that D.C. had gone six months without a homicide. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, D.C. has recorded 123 homicides so far this year. Police also opened a new investigation last week into a fatal shooting on Nov. 19. While homicides are down 29% in 2025 compared with 2024, crime had already been trending downward before Trump’s intervention. Following a gradual reduction in recent weeks, roughly 2,200 Guard troops remain stationed in Washington as part of Trump’s anti-crime initiative launched in August. The new deployment would bring the total force to about 2,700 personnel.#fyp #viral #trending
A Florida woman is in a lawsuit that her Lyft driver followed her into her home & repeatedly rap3d & impregnated her in what her attorney calls a “full-blown s3xual predator crisis” involving the ride-hailing company’s drivers. Tabatha Means, a survivor of SA by a family member as a child, said the ass*ult traumatized her, triggered a nightmare pregnancy & emergency cesarean section, in which she gave birth to a boy prematurely at 33 weeks. DNA tests confirmed that her Lyft driver-rap*st was the father. “Every day is a struggle. I’m still working to process this trauma & at the same time I need to be a mom to my amazing children, including my youngest whose biological father was my Lyft driver-rap*st,” she said in a statement. “I love my kids so deeply but there are a lot of mixed emotions when the biggest blessing in your life can also remind you of your darkest hour.” Her attorney, Rachel Abrams, said Lyft has aggressively marketed itself particularly to young women as a safe alternative to driving while intoxicated, but its driver background checks are a joke, it doesn’t monitor rides & it doesn’t have a mandatory dash camera policy. “It’s a perfect recipe for the disaster we’re now facing,” Abrams said. “The numbers speak for themselves. This is a full-blown s3xual predator crisis at Lyft.” Lyft said the alleged incident did not occur on the Lyft platform while using the Lyft app but involved a separate trip between the individuals. “Safety is fundamental to Lyft and the behavior described has no place in our society,”. “Lyft has worked to design policies & features that protect both drivers & riders & we are always working to make Lyft an even safer platform. Lyft has a dedicated, around-the-clock safety response team, a partnership with ADT to aid in emergencies & works with leading national organizations to inform our safety policies.” The complaint, filed in federal court in California, outlines the April 28, 2019 allegations. Means was intoxicated & a Lyft ride was requested for her through the ride-share app. A Lyft car arrived & the driver rolled down the passenger side window to confirm the ride was for her. He allegedly told her to sit in the front seat. On the ride, they made small talk. At one point, Means told him she wasn’t feeling well & needed to get home. He allegedly complimented her looks, said “she shouldn’t be out alone,” & “he didn’t understand how a woman as sexy as her was left alone without company,”. She became uncomfortable & was “eager for the short ride to end,”. Once home, the driver pulled into a parking space, talked to her again, ran his hand along her thigh & then leaned in to kiss her before she rejected his advances. He offered to walk with her to help her inside, “purportedly due to her intoxication,” & when she refused, he got out of his vehicle & followed her in. He immediately assault3d her, touching her body & trying to take off her clothes. She begged him to stop, saying she did not feel well & did not want him touching her. He allegedly responded, “It will be just fine & over before you know it.” At one point, he allegedly told her he had just had “a s3xual encounter with ‘a girl I picked up [in a Lyft ride] before you,'”. Once he finished, he put his clothes back on & left. She didn’t report the rap3 to authorities out of fear that no one would believe her court documents said. The lawsuit alleges negligence, intentional & negligent misrepresentation, infliction of emotional distress, breach of contract & other allegations. It seeks more than $75,000 in damages. #truecrimecommunity #truecrime #crimetiktok #crime #crimejunkie #truecrimetiktok #truecrimeaddicted #truecrimepodcast #truecrimeaddicted #truecrimeaddict #crimetok #truestory #news #sadstory #law
An 8-year-old boy suffered a gunsh0t wound to the head while he was out looking at Christmas lights with his mother who was also delivering food for DoorDash. It happened in Lawton, Oklahoma, which is about 90 miles southwest of Oklahoma City. Nichole Groshong said in a GoFundMe post that she, her sons Zack & Waylon & her mother-in-law were in the 900 block of SW 35th Street around 8 p.m. on Dec. 10 when she stopped & put the car in reverse to show them some more lights. “I drove away as fast as I could,” Groshong wrote. “My kids said they were okay, but Waylon then informed me that Zack was bleeding & he didn’t know from where so I drove as fast as I could to the hospital while my oldest kept his little brother awake all the way to the hospital & they said that was the best thing he could have done.” Police later arrested 30-year-old Jullian Phillips for the sh00ting. Phillips has no ties to the victim’s family & it appears to be a case of mistaken identity, although Phillips is not cooperating with police, Sgt. Christopher Blessing has stated. Prosecutors on Monday charged Phillips with sh00ting with intent to k*ll. Phillips remains in the Comanche County Jail on a $500,000 bond. He has a court date scheduled for Jan. 22. Groshong said her son suffered a skull fracture & a blood clot in the brain. He’s having trouble processing things & can’t sit up on his own, but can talk some & is progressing overall. “Other than all that he is doing so amazing & I am so proud of him,” she wrote in an update on Sunday. #truecrimecommunity #truecrime #crimetiktok #crimejunkie #truecrimetiktok #crimetok #crime #truecrimeaddicted #truecrimepodcast
