@miriamo25: Replying to @user31075266262783 FROM THE COMMENTS: "exact same problem with the 3800 plus the plastic coolant elbows lol" — great point, and honestly? You undersold it. The front-wheel-drive 3800 has THREE weak points: 1) the plastic upper intake, where exhaust heat burns through and coolant leaks INTO the engine — vanishing coolant, no puddle, ever; 2) the same lower intake gaskets as the 3400; 3) those plastic coolant elbows, which go brittle and snap — sometimes in the middle of a DIFFERENT repair. The fix is an aluminum elbow set for about $15–20. And all of it gets misdiagnosed as a head gasket — on an engine where real head-gasket failure is very rare. Grand Prix, Regal, Impala, Bonneville folks — this one's yours too. Keep them coming: questions, or comments that teach us something #GrandPrix #Pontiac #CarsOfTikTok #3800 #GrandAm

when you have aluminum coolant elbows you have to check the o-rings because they dry out. my Chevrolet Monte Carlo Super Sport 2004 3.8L V6 3800 series 2 is still going strong!

My 3800 was solid except for leaking valve cover gaskets and maf sensor. My 3400 on the other hand ate through intake manifold gaskets like crazy
