@rick.theengineer: You type your card number into a website. What stops a stranger on the network from reading it? 👇 Encryption turns readable plain text into scrambled ciphertext. Only someone with the right key can turn it back. There are two ways to do it: 🔑 Symmetric → one shared key locks and unlocks (AES). Very fast, but how do you get the key to the other side safely? 🗝️ Asymmetric → a key pair. The public key is shared with everyone, and only the private key can decrypt. It solves the sharing problem, but it's much slower. So HTTPS uses both. During the TLS handshake, your browser and the server use public-key crypto to agree on a shared secret without ever sending it. Then fast symmetric encryption protects everything after that. And how do you know it's really your bank? 📜 Certificates → the site's identity tied to its public key, signed by a certificate authority ✍️ Signatures → signed with a private key and checked with the public one, so you know who sent it and that nothing was changed 💡 Encryption keeps it private. Signatures prove who sent it and that it wasn't changed. The clever part: two computers that have never met build a secure connection across a network they don't trust. Did you know your browser does all of this before a page even loads? 👀 #encryption #cybersecurity #https #computerscience #techexplained
Ha ha what about the self certificate? You didn’t mention it,,😁

And there is the weakness in "Https" - a trusted authority that is rouge or compromised like what happened recently with the Indian certificate authority.
