because dawn is a dish soap, it is made to remove oils- this means if you use it to wash your face too many times you'll compromise your skin barrier and strip your skin of its natural oils (i'm an esthetician please don't do this regularly)

As someone with contamination ocd. Your skin feels super smooth initially, but after you start doing it consistently it fucks up the protective barrier completely and it dries out BAD (like it can lead to peeling/cracking and bleeding)

Hi! This happens to me every year! It’s the face paint not the dawn. When you paint your face it cuts off all oxygen to your pores and kills bacteria! Clay masks for long periods do the same thing! Thank me later! 🥰

Dawn is detergent, not soap. It removes oils your skin actually needs. The smoothness is probably due to the exfoliating you did. Please do not wash your face with Dawn unless you are an oily penguin

I have cleared my adult acne by washing my face daily with dawn dish soap for a year, only exfoliate once or twice a week though and immediately put lotion on out of shower. Exfoliating with anything has the potential to ruin your "skin barrier" its just super important to keep it moisturized because dawn can dry it out as it strips the oils, and right after the shower to help lock in that moisture. I'm a firm believer, everyone's boat rocks different, because well, it does lol

If your face is ever squeaky clean, your skin barrier is f***ed. Immediately invest in a diaper rash vitamin b5 cream for times like this. Any barrier repair will help atp.

tbh i think because of the aggressive scrubbing you probably jsut manually exfoliated your skin very well. which would have got rid of all the dead skin cells leaving you very smooth. uhhhh. just exfoliate once or twice a week and you should be good. :)

I scrub my face when I shower hella hard because my pores are large and 100% need it. I used to be really insecure about my pores, but as long as I scrub really hard with a wash cloth, it minimizes the look by a LOT
