It’s pretty simple. Just basic algebra. Let’s represent the number you picked with a variable, say N. first step is to add 70 to N which is (N+70) next is add 2. Which would be (N+72) now the next step is subtract 31 so (N+72-31) which is (N+41) now the last step is subtract the original number you picked which IS N so (N+41-N) which is just 41! This works for any real number. Very cool!

I picked 5 then I added the 70 and I got 75 I added 2 I got 77 now 77-31=46 now my number I picked witch is 5 I now have to subtract again so 46-5=41 that’s my answer
