But notice how he was there for his children, even though his father was a poor example. You don’t have to repeat cycles and you don’t have to move history in order to decide to make the change for the next generation. Him learning the story was for his healing

I was also kidnapped at the age of 4. He did it purely out of spite, had nothing to do with wanting me.

It’s so sad and disturbing that so many brown kids are raised without a Father. I’m one of them BUT I was raised with a Grandfather. 💖

Generational trauma. Each generation that heals is an opportunity for the next generation to get it right. Healing is powerful.

Man i done balled 😭 This story is so good and ironic. Healing is essential. It closes the gap on why we make the moves we make. Decisions…different story same concept.

Dondre Whitfield is the person that convinced me to start therapy w/one of his dear friends Hassani Pettiford. He doesn't know it, but I saw him on his page years ago. Started off as couples therapy, turned into a one on one therapy. Best experience ever.

And just because he never had a dad doesn’t give him the right to do him like that. That’s an excuse

I understand what he’s saying and I may sound like an ahole but it’s not a child’s responsibility to aide in the healing of a parent. Do we go to grape victims and try to explain their abusers past or upbringing in attempts to garner an understanding? No, that would be insensitive
