My son’s 19 months old not much older and we went trick or treating as well and he can majority have of the Halloween candy except for the hard choking candy. But in moderation is totally okay in my opinion.

i have two buckets that are exactly the same. my 4 year old only sees one at a time. when we leave, one is in the trunk with treats that she can have. some i repackaged in smaller portions in snack baggies. when we leave the bucket she got goes in the trunk and when we come home the approved bucket comes out. i thought for sure she was going to catch on this year but she didn’t! she got a glow stick that i moved to the approved bucket and i think that sold it this year but honestly even if she does notice i will just tell her this is the candy she can have

My niece went trick or treating for the first time today and shes 20 months and my sister and her husband are gonna eat all her candy plus the candy they passed out cause they got no trick or treaters

You could always do the “Switch Witch” she comes on Halloween night and trades your child’s candy for toys! Kids leave their candy out before bed, and the Switch Witch takes it and leaves a fun surprise in its place! 🎃 That way that don’t feel like they are losing their candy but upgrading it for a cute Halloween toy or lil boo basket!
