Just a few of my favorite things… It took me a long time to figure out work/life balance. Heck! I’m a work in progress! It took everything in me to turn off the outside noise and negativity to realize this is it - this is my one life, I need to enjoy it. This was one of the hardest things to learn, as I was always taught to work hard now - that I can play and enjoy life when I retire. I felt burnout, and it would reflect in my work and relationships. Between taking care of family and taking care of the business, then running on four hours of sleep. I was destroying myself mentally and physically. Now - I work hard and play hard. I’m realizing now, as my business is about to turn 25 and as I am about to turn 49, the things that bring me joy - I choose to surround myself by just that - and that has made all the difference. Now my new chapter entails the fight to get my mom on board, to give her much needed breaks, as my parents battle with my father’s dementia - it’s a whole new skill set we have had to learn and acquire in elderly care, as we navigate through and prepare for what’s to come with my father. Giving my mom breaks and grounding her in her own life, as I try to find help her find joy in her life. Taking on the circle of life, One step at a time. How are you finding joy your life?
