@beyondthemilemarkers: Welcome back to my Alaska kitchen! It’s time to get your fire cider going! You’ll thank me later I promise! Homemade Fire Cider 🔥 * 1 onion * 1 head garlic * ½ cup ginger * 1 lemon * 1-2 orange * 1–2 jalapeños * 1 cinnamon stick *peppercorns *thyme * Apple cider vinegar * Honey 1. Chop everything and add to a glass jar, except honey. 2. Cover completely with apple cider vinegar. 3. Seal and store in a cool, dark place for 3–4 weeks, shaking occasionally. 4. Strain, add honey to taste, and refrigerate! #alaska #alaskalife #firecider #homeremedy #homeremedies
so the 3-4 weeks are NOT refrigerated, you only refrigerate after you strain it and add the honey/syrup/etc? Thanks!🥰

What happens if y’all have medical emergencies out there in the winter? Do helicopters fly in? Like heart attacks and stuff.

I’m making “cough syrup” from the colonial days next week in my classroom. (We are studying the colonies and the first Thanksgiving) I’m only using lemon juice & honey. But I’m excited to show them that real people still make and use real food as medicine!!

You don’t use horseradish. I cannot find it anywhere so I’m glad to see your recipe doesn’t have it. I just made some Sunday!

What you substitute for onions? Onions and garlic make me super sick. I've been dying to try this though.

Do you have any suggestions for a cough that’s hanging on for 2 weeks? I’ve tried everything I can find and nothing works, I need sleep!
