day in the life of a marketing lead in new york city. 🫧☁️ now that i’m officially living in new york, one thing i’m realizing is how underrated of a skill it is to genuinely enjoy your own company. i’ve had so many people ask me if i’m lonely here, especially knowing that i don’t have many friends in the city yet. but truthfully, i’ve been having so much fun just experiencing everything on my own. there’s something so exciting about moving somewhere where no one really knows you and everything feels new. i’ve visited new york countless times, but actually living here is such a different experience. even the smallest things are so interesting to me. like walking into a bodega and ordering food? we don’t really have that culture in california, so even that feels like a new experience. and the fact that i still haven’t been to central park or bryant park since moving here makes me realize how much i have to look forward to. although, i will say that the inconveniences of living here are VERY real. i tried doordashing a box of lacroix and some household essentials last night and my total came out to $70. WITH my subscription. i immediately closed the app and decided i’d rather walk 20 minutes to the store myself lol. but even with all these little inconveniences, i feel like new york is such an easy city to romanticize. one thing i’ve especially loved is meeting people from so many different backgrounds. so many people i’ve met here also packed up their lives and moved to the city, and there’s something really comforting about knowing that we’re all figuring out our own versions of life here. also, apparently getting sick when you first move to new york is a thing? i was telling a friend that i wasn’t feeling well and she mentioned how common it is for people to get sick after moving here because of how many people they’re suddenly exposed to. which honestly makes so much sense. in la, i drove my own car everywhere and worked from home. now i’m taking packed trains twice a day and constantly surrounded by hundreds of people. definitely an adjustment lol. anyways, my furniture finally arrives on saturday, which means i’ll actually have a home to come back to instead of an empty apartment. i think what i’m enjoying most about this chapter is realizing that i don’t need to have everything figured out to enjoy where i am. i don’t need a full social calendar, a perfectly furnished apartment, or even someone to experience everything with. there’s so much joy in simply being curious about the life that’s happening around you. and i think that’s something i’ve learned to appreciate more as i’ve gotten older. being comfortable doing things alone opens you up to so many experiences you might otherwise miss out on while waiting for someone else to join you. i have no idea what my life in new york will look like a year from now, but i think that’s what makes it so exciting. there’s still so much of this city i haven’t seen, so many people i haven’t met, and so many little routines i haven’t discovered yet. and for now, i’m just really happy to be here. :) #Vlog #asmr #dayinmylife #nyc #workvlog
