#CapCut To fully understand what a rastaman is, it helps to look at the core identity, beliefs, and lifestyle choices that define him: Core Identity & Beliefs • Devotion to Jah: He holds a monotheistic belief in God, referred to as Jah. • Reverence for Haile Selassie: He looks to the former Emperor of Ethiopia, Haile Selassie I (whose pre-coronation title was Ras Tafari), as a divine figure, messiah, or prophet. • Zion vs. Babylon: He views Western society as "Babylon" (a corrupt system of materialism and oppression) and looks to Africa—specifically Ethiopia—as "Zion," the ultimate spiritual home and promised land. • Freedom and Autonomy: As reggae icon Bob Marley famously articulated, a rastaman is a "conscious man" who recognizes individual autonomy, strives to be his own person, and stands up against social oppression and cultural ostracism. Cultural Practices & Lifestyle • Dreadlocks: Many (though not all) Rastamen grow their hair into natural locs. This practice is inspired by biblical passages (such as the Nazirite vow in the Book of Numbers) and symbolizes the mane of the Lion of Judah. • Ital Diet: He typically follows an ital diet, which focuses on natural, clean, and organic foods. This usually means avoiding salt, chemicals, and pork, and often leaning toward a completely vegetarian or vegan lifestyle. • Sacramental Cannabis: He may use cannabis (ganja) not for recreation, but as a sacred herb or sacrament during "reasoning sessions" to aid in spiritual meditation, healing, and achieving high consciousness. • Pan-African Colors: He often identifies with the symbolic colors of red (the blood of martyrs), gold (the wealth of Africa), and green (the lush vegetation of the promised land), alongside black #benefitsofseamoss #kairumbaaraalimoodman #EmpireOfLifePodcast #timtomannexhotel - @kairumbamoodmanaraali
