@asaintaday: 🧹 Compassion Without Barriers – November 3rd St Martin de Porres challenged the divisions of colonial Peru through practical compassion, caring for people whom poverty and racial prejudice pushed aside. ——— More about St Martin de Porres: Born in Lima in 1579, Martin was the son of a Spanish father and Ana Velázquez, a formerly enslaved woman of African descent. He trained in barbering and healing before entering service at a Dominican friary. His mixed ancestry restricted his opportunities, but he was eventually admitted as a lay brother. In the infirmary and beyond its walls, he tended the sick, distributed food and helped people regardless of their background or ability to repay him. His care extended to animals. Accounts of his life describe extraordinary healings and bilocation—appearing in two places at once. These belong to the devotional traditions surrounding a man whose everyday service was remarkable in itself. Martin died in 1639 and was canonised by Pope John XXIII in 1962. He remains an enduring figure of racial harmony and social justice. ——— 🙏 Follow Martin’s example today: notice someone being overlooked, challenge an unfair assumption, or offer practical help without expecting anything back. ——— Music: Inspiring Dreams by Keys of Moon | https://soundcloud.com/keysofmoon Music promoted by https://www.chosic.com/free-music/all/ Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ ——— #SharedHumanity #EverydayCourage #dailyinspiration #christianhistory 🎨 This channel features original human writing, research, and design, utilizing AI and Photoshop to assist our real human graphics and visual effects artists.
