@science.nature: MICHAEL JACKSON MAY HAVE HAD THE ULTIMATE BUSINESS COMEBACK AFTER EMINEM MOCKED HIM. 👀🔥 Back in 2004, Eminem released the controversial music video for “Just Lose It,” which featured him impersonating Michael Jackson and making fun of the King of Pop. Jackson wasn't amused. He publicly criticized the video, calling its portrayal disrespectful, and even called on television networks to stop broadcasting it. BET eventually pulled the video from its rotation. But here's where the story gets REALLY interesting. In 2007, a company called Sony/ATV Music Publishing, which was jointly owned by Sony and Michael Jackson, acquired Famous Music from Viacom in a deal reportedly worth approximately $370 MILLION. And guess whose music was included in the publishing catalogue? Eminem's. The acquisition involved publishing rights connected to more than 125,000 songs, including works by Eminem, Shakira, Beck and other major artists. That meant Sony/ATV gained publishing interests in songs from Eminem's catalogue, creating a rather unexpected connection between the two music legends. Eminem mocked the King of Pop. A company co-owned by the King of Pop later acquired publishing rights connected to Eminem's music. Sometimes, the most interesting moves happen behind the scenes. 👑 What do you think: Was this the ultimate business plot twist in music history? #MichaelJackson #Eminem #MusicHistory #HipHopHistory #PopCulture
