That can’t be comfortable for the patient just pulling it like that. As someone who has had IVs in them when they pull it out of your arm sometimes that can be the worst part.

**Just to be clear** - we only do this for those patients that we cannot touch without being sedated/reanaestised to remove an iv. As stated aggressive patients. If there is a way to maintain iv access while all remaining safe and decreasing stress for our patients then we will do that. This is not standard practice for all of our patients iv Caths

as long as the pet doesn't step on the T-port once he wakes up so that is really pointless if you do.have an emergency and need to give emergency drugs post-op
