@theglitchinc: THE ART OF MASTERY People want the rewards of exceptional ability without accepting the years of work required to develop it. They want to play beautifully without practising, build successful businesses without learning the craft, and achieve extraordinary results without enduring the ordinary repetition that makes those results possible. But there is no shortcut to mastery. Whether it's music, business, art, or any other worthwhile pursuit, you must be prepared to invest years in learning, making mistakes, correcting yourself, and doing the work even when it becomes boring. The interesting part is what happens when you stay with something long enough. What once felt difficult gradually becomes familiar. Your understanding deepens, your abilities expand, and you begin doing things that were previously beyond your reach. A pianist who has spent years practising eventually experiences a freedom that a beginner cannot comprehend. The instrument becomes an extension of their understanding. That is the reward of mastery: you gain access to possibilities that were invisible to you before. This is a lesson worth understanding early. Stop organising your entire life around immediate pleasure. Parties, entertainment, consumption, and temporary excitement have their place, but they cannot replace the satisfaction of developing a real ability. Learn to tolerate boredom. Develop patience. Become comfortable with repetition. The world keeps selling you shortcuts to pleasure, while mastery offers something far more substantial: the ability to do things you once could only admire in others.
