My mom couldn’t speak either, it’s a lot of effort to speak when your body is failing you. The only thing she would would respond to is “I love you.” She would say “I love you, too.” She put all her effort and energy into those words

When my grandmother died, they immediately sealed all of her records and deleted her mychart. We needed medical information for a lawsuit and they wouldn’t give it to us, even the simplest things like what medication she was prescribed, without having to talk to 15 different people and sending copies of her death certificate. It’s worth a shot, but I don’t think they will give what you’re asking for without jumping through a couple hoops.

My momma yelled at me a lot and was really aggressive (she was on morphine and methadone and in a lot of pain still) towards the end but once it came to hearing just sleeping and snoring I wish she'd just yell or say one more thing..

When you’re so tired & your body is failing you, you don’t have the energy. Simply put, your body is shutting down & putting all efforts to the organs.

Hi there!! Speaking is one the worst “senses” to go. Essentially what happened is while your mom was transitioning, her body started to conserve energy. So whatever functions are considered non essential (speaking, opening eyes, being awake) the body will favor to stop those to focus on keeping the organs alive. It’s a completely natural thing to happen, however, hearing is the LAST thing to go. They can hear it all. All the kind words, all the I love you, everything. She could hear it.

I’m not sure if this is the case but for example I couldn’t talk during my c section because I was scared you the gave me meds to clam down they may have done that to here so she could be more peaceful and comfortable

My mom was intubated so she couldn't speak. Sometimes though when you're body is dying your organs shut down and you stop talking to persevere energy. If the hospital can't tell you somtimes the funeral can.

Aw baby it’s not weird at all. You can definitely ask, just be prepared that they might not be allowed to tell you any patient information. But as a nurse, if someone asks me why it COULD have been, any nurse would be more than willing to tell you❤️if you want to dm me we can talk about it to and figure it out together😊❤️

hospital staff, or in some cases funeral home directors will often have full medical reports on end of life conditions, cause of death, underlying cause, etc. they are very understanding people who work with grieving families all the time. it can’t hurt to ask. i hope you get the answers you’re looking for
