She started getting REALLY into it at the end! 😂💨 backstory ::: Kay was downstairs while I was working and she asked me to come see something cute that Sutton was doing. So I came down to see what she had learned! At first Sutton wasn’t doing it, but then she started doing the cutest thing! Two days ago, the exiled Ugandan author, journalist and activist Kakwenza Rukirabashaija published a list of individuals he alleges are responsible for the abduction and torture of Ugandans. He titled his post “Know Your Torturers and Abductors.” The list reportedly includes security officials associated with the Special Forces Command (SFC) and Defence Intelligence and Security (DIS). I did not recognise many of the individuals named. So I turned to someone I believed could provide important firsthand context: a person who has worked alongside some of them, served under some of them, and had direct encounters with others. That person is Lt. Herbert Matanda Mabonga, the military officer who has previously spoken publicly about human rights abuses and corruption within Uganda's security establishment. He is joining me on this call to explain what he knows about the individuals named in Kakwenza's publication, their positions, their backgrounds and his experiences with them. Mabonga also alleges that some of these individuals were involved in an assassination attempt against him. Who are these people? What roles have they played within Uganda's security establishment? And what does Mabonga know about their alleged involvement in the abductions and torture of Ugandans? Let's get into the conversation.
