This is what our tour guide explained when I asked why there were pieces of charcoal-like wood placed on some of the tombs and why there were vacant spaces beside them. Apparently, it’s part of their tradition. The vacant tombs are intentionally reserved for married couples, so when one spouse passes away, the other can eventually be buried beside them. A tradition that reflects how even in death, couples are meant to stay together. ❤️
