In the account's telling, the model recommended gradual disclosure. It warned that future models will let the public disclose it for itself, catastrophically, and that leaks could compound as stronger models are tested behind the scenes. The account says it is still working to check the claim. The account offered no evidence and named no model. Its own question: "Is this information valid?" What is on the record is narrower. On April 9, 2026, ABC News carried word that Anthropic would not release a new tool to the public over fears it could spark a catastrophic attack in the wrong hands. That coverage says nothing about NHI. It matters because the claim names a real company and an exact date, which makes it checkable.
