A Kentucky man has been accused of fatally shooting his wife after an argument about cleaning their home before an upcoming trip, according to police. Patrick Brents, 57, is facing a charge of first-degree assault connected to domestic violence, based on jail records reviewed by Law&Crime. He was taken into custody on March 14. Authorities say the incident occurred at the couple’s residence on the 600 block of Southwestern Parkway in Louisville. Brents’ wife, identified as Carolyn Ross-Brents, was also at the home at the time. Investigators report that the couple began arguing when Ross-Brents asked her husband to tidy up the house before they left town so it would be clean upon their return. The disagreement reportedly escalated, expanding to include tensions involving family members. During the dispute, Brents allegedly went into a bedroom, retrieved a firearm from a drawer, and returned to confront his wife. A witness inside the home told police that Ross-Brents pleaded with him not to shoot. Brents allegedly responded, “What are you going to do about it?” moments before the gun discharged. Ross-Brents was struck in the abdomen. According to reports, her son was present during the incident. When he questioned Brents about what had happened, the suspect allegedly replied, “she’s shot.” The son then ran outside and alerted another family member, who called 911. Officers arrived at the home around 4 p.m. and found Brents still on the scene. Ross-Brents was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Brents told investigators he had picked up the gun because he intended to leave the house, claiming it discharged accidentally. He remains in custody on a $250,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court next week.#fyp #viral
