A 13-year-old boy is in custody after Hialeah, Florida police say he kill3d his mother late Thursday night. It happened at the Amelia Oaks apartment complex, located at 211 W. 79th Place. Lt. Eddie Rodriguez, a spokesperson for the Hialeah Police Department, said the boy called 911 just after 11:30 p.m. to report that he had “just murd3red his mother.” Officers arrived to find the woman, later identified as 39-year-old Irina Garcia, d3ad “in her bedroom next to a crib” containing a 14-day-old baby, who was unharmed, Rodriguez said. Police believe the boy, later identified by authorities as Derek Rosa, waited until Garcia fell asleep & then stabb3d his mother multiple times. Authorities said the boy is an honor student at iMater Charter Middle/High School & said he was calm & apologetic after officers arrived at the scene. It was “not what you’d think or expect walking into that home or seeing that crime scene,” Rodriguez said. “I was shocked, just shocked by the news,” neighbor Lazaro Rodriguez said in Spanish. “He was always with his mom, calm, he would help her carry packages or shopping bags. I never saw anything abnormal with him. I don’t know what could’ve happened.” The boy had no previous history of mental health issues & police haven’t responded to the family’s apartment before, Rodriguez stated. “Neighbors don’t know of any problems inside the home,” Rodriguez said. “So this has detectives & us dumbfounded.” Officials said the baby is now with her grandmother & Garcia’s husband, the boy’s stepfather, a truck driver, is returning to Hialeah from out-of-state. They said police took the teenager to the juvenile detention center & later Jackson Memorial Hospital, after he threatened to harm himself. He appeared in court Friday. Authorities have not yet identified a suspected motive for the kill*ng. Rodriguez said the teen “did not provide any information as to why he did what he did.” “It’s something we’re all asking ourselves now,” Rodriguez said. Officials said the state is hoping to take the case to a grand jury. #crime #truecrime #crimetoks #crimejunkie #crimetiktoks #truecrimetok #crimetiktok #crimejunkies #truecrimetiktok #crimetok #crimestories #crimetiktoker #truecrimetiktoker #truecrimecommunity #crimejunkiestories

An 18-year-old man in Texas may spend 3 decades behind bars for his role in 3 violent robberies, 1 of which included him being caught on video body-slamming a woman to the ground, leaving her paralyzed from the waist down. Harris County District Court Judge Kristin M. Guiney on Thursday sentenced Joseph Harrell to 30 years in a state correctional facility for the attack on 41-year-old Nhung Troung. Harrell pleaded guilty to 1 count of aggravated robbery causing serious bodily injury for the February 2023 so-called “jugging” att*ck that left Troung in a wheelchair. Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg, “jugging” refers to a situation in which a criminal watches a customer at a bank, ATM, credit union, or shopping area, then follows that person to a second location & steals their money or valuables. In exchange for pleading to the robbery charge, prosecutors agreed to drop 2 other charges in connection with the robbery, including 1 count of aggravated ass*ult with a deadly weapon initially charged against Harrell. He will be required to serve at least 15 years of his sentence before he is eligible for parole. “People should feel safe in our community & not have to worry about looking over their shoulders whenever they go to the bank or run errands,” Ogg said in a statement following the sentencing hearing. “Our organized crime division was ready & willing to go to trial and that is why this defendant decided to plead guilty.” Harrell’s accomplice in the attack, 19-year-old Zy’Nika Woods, was also arrested & charged with aggravated robbery causing serious bodily injury in the attack on Troung. She pleaded guilty to a downgraded charge of robbery causing bodily injury & agreed to testify against Harrell. She is out on $50,000 bond awaiting her sentencing hearing which is set for Oct. 24. Truong went to the Bank of America at 9875 Blackhawk Boulevard on Feb. 13 & withdrew a large sum of money for an upcoming trip then drove 24 miles to the 9800 block of Bellaire Boulevard. Woods & Harrell followed her the entire 24 miles waiting to rob her. In surveillance footage of the attack, Harrell can be seen grabbing & struggling with Troung, who tries to run away. Troung then drops several items, including an envelope filled with cash. She picks it up & attempts to flee, but Harrell grabs her from behind, picks her up & slams her to the ground before fleeing. “In fact, when I saw it [the video], just made me mad as hell,” Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said following Harrell’s arrest. “Slammed her down like she was a bag of potatoes.” Troung suffered several cracked ribs & a spinal injury that paralyzed her legs. “She was going about her daily routine & had taken money out of the bank to go see her family in Vietnam & that’s when he attack3d,” Assistant District Attorney Sean Kozar-King, who prosecuted the case, said in a statement Thursday. “He not only stole a significant amount of money, but he paralyzed her, maybe forever. It’s still unclear how long she will be in a wheelchair.” #crime #truecrime #crimetoks #crimejunkie #crimetiktoks #truecrimetok #crimetiktok #crimejunkies #truecrimetiktok #crimetok #crimestories #crimetiktoker #truecrimetiktoker #truecrimecommunity #crimejunkiestories
