@barbecue.grill.recipes: A Hospital CEO Ditched Her Suit for a Ball Gown to Surprise Sick Children For children staying in the hospital during the holidays, the daily medical routine can be exhausting. But the president and CEO of Children’s Nebraska decided to bring a classic fairy tale directly to their bedsides. Chanda Chacón traded her everyday work attire for a yellow ball gown, matching opera gloves, and a glittering tiara. Carrying a single red rose, she transformed into Belle from Beauty and the Beast. She wasn’t alone. Amanda Adams, a senior patient relations manager, walked the halls right beside her dressed in a full Beast costume. The hospital leaders visited the Cardiac Care Unit and the main campus to surprise kids and their families for Halloween. While posing for photos, Chacón joked with one young patient, “You know, us princesses, we hang out together. I saw Elsa, too.” The hospital shared that the surprise visit was meant to offer families a much-needed break from their usual environment. They described the costumes as sparking a sense of joy and magic throughout the inpatient units, bringing smiles to both children and adults.
