@oldfriendsbookends: I’ve realized, especially over the last week, that I have an almost overwhelming amount of work to do on myself. I realized a fatal flaw of mine, an issue so deep in me that it feels like the only way to make you understand the impact it has on me is to make it seem life or death. It’s like all of the sudden I’ve been blown open and I can see what hopefully no one else can and it’s awful and I’m sure more people see it and have seen it than I think. I know what I need to work on. I know what I need to do. My last relationship probably wouldn’t have ended if I had even begun to realize any of this. But it’s done and it’s over and no one can take my memories from me and I am a being of the present who can change and grow. I am a flawed person. And maybe I am even a bad person. To be this blind to the world for so long. I will do the work and I will learn to live. I will learn to be alive. I will learn to be resilient. I will change.
