George Grippinos captured a side of 1990s New York wealth that was rarely seen from the outside. His photographs portrayed successful financiers and businessmen surrounded by the unmistakable symbols of excess — luxury, power, and enormous amounts of cash. Among the most striking images were photographs of wealthy financial figures sitting in bathtubs overflowing with money. The concept was deliberately extravagant, turning cash itself into a visual symbol of status and success. This was the world of 1990s New York, when Wall Street fortunes were growing rapidly and wealth was often expressed in a much more physical way. Expensive cars, designer suits, penthouses, watches, yachts — and, in these photographs, stacks upon stacks of cash. Grippinos’ work captured something beyond the money itself. It documented a culture where success was meant to be visible, where excess could be celebrated, and where the image of the powerful New York businessman had become almost larger than life. The photographs feel almost surreal today. But that was precisely the point. They captured an era when money wasn’t just something you possessed — it was something you could surround yourself with. A glimpse into the extravagant world of 1990s New York finance, frozen in time through the lens of George Grippinos. #WallStreet #NewYork #1990s #Finance
