Things I want every woman over 40 to know about her skin 👇 1. The skincare that worked at 35 may not work at 45. Hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause can affect collagen, hydration, oil production and skin thickness. Your skin may suddenly feel drier, more sensitive or less tolerant of products you’ve used for years. Your routine should evolve with your skin. 2. Pick a retinoid you tolerate > the strongest one you can buy. Retinoids are one of my favorite ingredients for aging skin, but stronger isn’t always better. If your retinoid leaves you constantly irritated, peeling or taking weeks off between uses, you’re probably not getting the benefit you think you are. Find one you can use consistently. 3. Skincare can’t replace lost volume. Great skincare can improve texture, pigmentation, hydration and fine lines, but it cannot restore deeper facial volume loss or significantly reposition sagging tissue. Knowing what skincare can’t do is just as important as knowing what it can. 4. MORE moisturizer and LESS exfoliation. As skin becomes drier and more sensitive, piling on acids and exfoliants can do more harm than good. Prioritize your skin barrier. For many women, adding hydration and dialing back exfoliation will make their skin look better, not worse. 5. Aging well doesn’t mean looking younger. The goal doesn’t have to be erasing every line or trying to look 30 again. Healthy, strong, well-cared-for skin can still have wrinkles, movement and signs of age. I’d rather help my patients look like the best version of themselves at every age. #dermatologist #perimenopause #womenover40 #healthyskinjourney
