@true.north.report: 🇨🇦🤝 47 DAYS. THAT'S HOW FAST CANADA NEGOTIATED ITS NEW TRADE DEAL WITH THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES. Prime Minister Mark Carney and the UAE have signed the Canada-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. Negotiations wrapped up in a record 47 days, the fastest either country has ever negotiated a free trade agreement. Once fully in place, the deal will reduce or eliminate tariffs on over 99 per cent of current Canadian exports to the UAE. Ottawa says it will double two-way trade, from $3.4 billion to $7 billion over the next decade. Who benefits? Farmers growing pulses and canola, makers of industrial machinery and power equipment, and Canada's aerospace sector. It builds on the UAE's $70 billion investment commitment to Canada. "The UAE and Canada are building big," said Carney. While Washington keeps raising tariffs, Canada keeps signing deals elsewhere. Is this the right strategy? 🇨🇦
