My fiance had the stand-in ring (he refused to bring my real ring for fear of it being lost by either of us (I’m notoriously horrible at keeping track of things) or stolen) in his bathing suit pocket all day on the day he proposed in the Dominican on vacation. He had so much trouble finding a good spot with no people, because he respected my wishes of not having people around because I thought it’d make it awkward, so when he did propose… he said “I’m sorry this took so long” and I said “what did?” And my man PANICKED and said “our first vacation alone together”. And then went, “here goes nothing” or something along those lines and then proposed. It was so hilariously him. I said to him “um yes???” Because like, why would I say no??? So it was awkward on all accounts
