US Medicare is not universal healthcare. It is not free. And it is pretty much selecting a private insurance plan. Part C, D, G etc. are all private plans you purchase.

We do not typically use medicare when referring to our healthcare coverage. There is no operational difference between the two within Canada. They represent the same entity: • Medicare is the informal, overarching name for Canada’s public healthcare system as a whole. • GHIP is the structural administrative term for the individual provincial plans (like OHIP in Ontario, MSI in Nova Scotia, or AHCIP in Alberta) that deliver that Medicare coverage.

I have always called it Medicare. I honestly thought that was the correct name, I m in Quebec. My sister is in Ottawa and she refers to as OHIP or Medicare. Maybe that’s an eastern Canadian thing and they call it something else out West.

Dang I actually didn't know we had 'Medicare'. But fraud ABSOLUTELY exists. I worked at one of the biggest Physio clinics in Canada and I quit bc I didn't agree with their billing. Not fraud but scammy none the less. Billing for none services has always been an issue. And prescribing name brand over generic, while not fraud, still pretty scammy since it uses up your allotted amount
