@beneaththosesmiles: 7 THINGS TO STOP DOING AFTER A SITUATIONSHIP ENDS — the closing list of this series. Full script below 👇 read more Slide 2 — 1 AND 2 1. Stop checking if they watched your story. Their view is not a message. It costs them nothing and pays you nothing. 2. Stop re-reading the old chats looking for where it changed. It changed when their effort did — you felt it in real time. Slide 3 — 3 AND 4 3. Stop calling it "complicated." Undefined was the definition. Saying it plainly is how it loses its power. 4. Stop keeping the door open "as friends" while it still hurts. A door you cry in front of is not friendship yet. Slide 4 — 5 AND 6 5. Stop blaming your timing, your body, your "too much." You were not too much. They were not enough — for you. Different sentence, same facts. 6. Stop waiting for the apology that would make it make sense. Some endings arrive without explanations. Heal anyway. Slide 5 — 7 — THE BIG ONE 7. Stop shrinking the story when you tell it. It counted. It cost you. Say it plainly. A thing does not need a title to have been real — or to deserve your grief, and then your freedom. Slide 6 — REMEMBER You did not lose a relationship. You lost a question that was never going to answer itself. That is not a small loss. And closing it is not a small victory. Slide 7 — YOUR STORY COUNTS This page shares real stories — like yours. Send yours to [email protected] — openly, or anonymously. It will be held with care. Which number are you working on — 1 to 7? Watching him experience firsthand what it’s like to hold one of your pets as they pass away and be there for their very last breath broke my heart. But I tried to make it into a learning moment. When we choose to care for these little ones, we’re responsible for them. We have to make sure they have enough food and water and we’re paying attention when we let them out, that everyone makes it safely in and out of the coop, and that we’re constantly checking to make sure no one has gotten caught or hurt. Unfortunately, today we let all of our baby turkeys out while we were tending to everyone. We walked toward the front of the house for a little while, and when we came back, he found that one of the babies had gotten caught on the coop door. He said, “I think he’s dying.” but he still tried giving him water and food, hoping it would help. When he noticed the baby turkey’s eyes starting to look “sleepy,” he asked me if he could just hold him until he fell asleep. I went inside and when I walked back out, I see him with the realization that our little turkey was giving up. He stayed right with him, holding and comforting him until he took his last breath. As heartbreaking as it was to watch Liam go through that, I hope he carries this lesson with him: loving our animals isn’t only about the fun moments. It’s also about responsibility, paying attention, caring for them, and sometimes being there to comfort them when there’s nothing you can do. #homestead #turkeys #pets
