@songanimationdrone: AI brings to life this photo of “Preston Pals (D Company, 7th Battalion, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment) gathered on the Preston Flag Market in Preston, Lancashire, on September 7, 1914, just weeks after the outbreak of the First World War. Key Details from the Photo: • The Recruits: The men stand in civilian clothes—mostly suits, flat caps, and bowler hats—before marching to the Preston railway station to depart for military training. • The Location: They are assembled on the Flag Market with the Harris Museum and Art Gallery in the background. • The Unit: Formed under the "Pals" recruitment scheme, many of these volunteers later saw heavy combat during the First World War, including the Battle of Loos (1915) and the Battle of the Somme (1916). The imposing building featured in the background is the Preston Head Post Office, which opened in 1903. Following their parade in the Market Place, the men marched to Preston Railway Station to depart for their military training. The journey from that very gathering in the Market Place straight to the Preston Railway Station marked the definitive moment these local men transitioned from civilian life into the reality of the Great War. As they marched down the streets, they were cheered on by thousands of local residents, a scene of immense community pride that would later turn to deep solemnity as the harsh realities of the conflict set in. Today, a special Preston Pals War Memorial stands at Preston Railway Station, explicitly honoring the men who gathered in that photograph and boarded the trains on September 7, 1914, many of whom never returned home.” I only control the camera, I instruct no talking ( because they do ) because AI can judge an image faster and better than any detective but it can not truly put words in their mouth & I do not have the right to put words they never spoke or would not say.
