@grammarslammer: Replying to @markoessex Regional Dialects often have different vocabulary, particularly for food words. this happens in other languages as well as in British English. What do you call a bread roll? #english #grammar #englishteacher #englishtips #learnontiktok
My fave local dialect term is 'dun what fut do' (I don't know what to do).

Teacake! The people of Yorkshire will be after you! 🤣 In Yorkshire there’s plain teacake and currant teacake, but in Hampshire a teacake is always a currant teacake (because its a roll, or a bap if you want a big roll). Queue my Yorkshire Dad getting years of weird looks in bakeries for asking for a ‘currant’ teacake - with all the people thinking ‘well obviously they have currants in?!’ 🤣 Disclaimer: I am talking about Hampshire and West Yorkshire. Don’t come for me! 🙈🤣

Bap here in County Armagh. I came across "stottie" in northeast of England. That's a huge bap.

I learnt recently that barm is the word for ale yeast, a byproduct of the brewing process. It also gave us the word barmy
