thats exactly what i built last week and oh boy - you can't patch everything, and it's not laziness. some holes have no patch yet. others sit in a version chain where replacing one part breaks the whole function. and the third one nobody says out loud: sometimes the update itself is the incident — mine took the whole config with it once. the single biggest chunk of my findings sits in one package i now refuse to auto-update on purpose. thats why it has to run on your own metal: the moment a cloud model tells you what to patch, you just handed someone the map.

I’ve been exploring this myself. I found local models security can be compromised by many vectors too, and securing them is a whole venture in itself. Worth noting, qwen is genuinely great but it’s no where near something like Opus 5.5, and unless you have room for the 1m token context, that’s turning into a limitation too. A really good harness helps, but personally it’s not enough for me to trust making the shots and having this level of permissions and codebase knowledge. I’m pivoting towards coderabit + scheduled cloudflare security agent skill scans with Claude Code (which stays local, and doesn’t downgrade models for this type of security work anymore). Maybe my local agent can still monitor logs and report concerns to a slack with Claude and I in it. Hope my pain saves someone some time (and money)!

Nailed it. Fingers crossed that my second PGX 128GB unified gets delivered. The ship date keeps flopping around. lol A cluster of two is all I can afford in practical terms. I'm glad I got ahead of it, but anxious that I may have been a week late taking this seriously back in May 2026
