I work at the service desk at a grocery store and the number of times customers come straight to the desk from the register and return something they just bought bc they “didn’t want it” is crazy like why did you buy it then?

It’s gotten to the point where I’m just glad when they tell me 😭 I’m always finding stuff at the end of my belt and around my register that a customer in my line didn’t want anymore but didn’t tell me about. The worst was two items that needed to be refrigerated that I didn’t notice until they needed to be thrown out

When they ask for a price of an item with the price displayed on the tag then get surprised when it is infact the price on the tag then walk away leaving it on the counter like I’m the one who set the price they seen on the tag with their own eyes. Ok.

There’s a literal scanner in the store with a BIG sign saying “scan to know clothes price” yet they still have me scan like 10 items just to be like “oh I didn’t know it was that price, ok you can take it off”

Personally, I don’t mind if it’s two items that they picked up and then don’t want, it’s when it’s literally half or all of their very full cart that they don’t want! Why are you shopping here if you’re not gonna get all or the majority of your items!??

That’s why I go to self checkout bc I’m very indecisive and can’t make up my mind until I see the prices adding up😭😭 then I can just put the unwanted items in the little cart they have there lol

As annoying as this is, I honestly prefer having the items handed to me instead of being left in a random spot. I’ve had people leave seafood on hot shelves and ice cream right in front of where it came from rather than taking another two steps to put it back, and the amount of effort I’ve seen people go to to hide something in a random spot rather than just putting it back or bringing it to an employee at the store I work at is crazy
